PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE PROCEEDING TO DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL FIRM‼️‼️‼️‼️ Let me preface this with if I could give it 0 stars… I would do it faster than I could blink. Especially for Greg Schlax and Joan Ortiz Taylor I am DEEPLY disappointed in my experience with this firm and feel compelled to share my truth so that others can make an informed decision. My car accident took place on June 7, 2024, and for nearly a year, I endured a lack of communication, delayed responses, and dismissiveness from the very people who were supposed to advocate for me. My primary contact, Joan Ortiz Taylor, consistently failed to return my calls or provide updates unless I initiated contact myself. Even then, voicemails often went unanswered, and my concerns were ignored for months. After finally reaching my breaking point, I sent a formal email requesting to speak directly with Renee Harrell. Instead of receiving a response from Joan—or Renee—I was unexpectedly contacted by someone I had never been introduced to: Greg. No explanation, no respect for my request, just a handoff. The phone conversation with Greg was unprofessional and frankly, insulting as well as disgusting. His tone was monotone and dismissive, and he made sarcastic remarks like, “I don’t know how much more urgent you wanted me to be besides come to your house last night,” which was completely inappropriate and uncalled for. I never asked for anything unreasonable—only communication, clarity, and respect. Despite my clear frustration, Joan never followed up, and to this day, has still not returned my call or email. Greg, instead of acknowledging the clear wrongdoing, made comments suggesting Joan didn’t respond because she “thought I was mad at her.” That kind of excuse only solidifies how unseriously they took my pain, time, and case. After 10+ months of being left in the dark, I was told my case was settled—without a proper explanation of the breakdown—and I’d walk away with less than $5,000. My medical treatment alone exceeded that. Not to mention the pain, emotional stress, and missed work I’ve endured. I understand policy limits can affect settlement amounts, but no insurance limit justifies being treated like my case—and my wellbeing—didn’t matter. What hurts most is that I had a personal connection to this firm. My aunt, Carla Williams, worked here and spoke highly of it for years. I believed that legacy would be honored and that I would be treated with care. Instead, I felt like just another number. I do not recommend this firm to anyone looking for compassionate, communicative, or client-centered legal representation. When people are dealing with the trauma of an accident, they deserve advocates—not avoidance, sarcasm, or blame-shifting. I hope this review encourages this firm to reflect on how they treat the people who put their trust in them.

Receiving compensation for injuries from a car accident is not a quick process. You spend very little time with your attorney & lots of time with the paralegal assigned to you. Harrell & Harrell assigned me to Joan Ortiz, a miracle lady. She was the informative go between in every facet. Always kind, solicitous, knowledgeable & tough. She saw this process through, over 2 years, to a conclusion that benefited everyone.
